Love is not all

by Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950)

Love is not all: It is not meat nor drink
Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain,
Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink
and rise and sink and rise and sink again.
Love cannot fill the thickened lung with breath
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
It well may be that in a difficult hour,
pinned down by need and moaning for release
or nagged by want past resolutions power,
I might be driven to sell you love for peace,
Or trade the memory of this night for food.
It may well be. I do not think I would.

Top of the morning to you Colin, my name is Talia Daniel.I have been scouring Classic Poetry Aloud and found your tag. I also left you a message at CPA asking where abouts you are from. Yours is a wonderful idea to combine fine food with poetry. After all there is nothing more romantic and satisfying than good food along with good poetry. I also enjoyed the pic that you posted. I would like to get to know you better, I could not possibly allow a man that is as sensitive as yourself pass me by. So if you are free and available you may contact me on tali.adan@hotmail.com. I always keep in mind, if life passes you by you only have yourself to blame if you have not taken every opportunity to make a difference in yours or someone elses life.

Have a fab day
Talia
